For me, this painting, Blue Messiah, is a visual meditation. It’s a call to pause and reflect on truth, identity, and vision. As someone who wears headwraps myself, I know that wrapping fabric around your head isn’t just an act of adornment. It’s a ritual and sometimes a shield from the world.

In this painting, the man’s blue headwrap represents a crown. Blue is a color of depth. It’s the color of vast oceans and endless skies. Engulfed in blue, the figure I’ve painted feels like a messenger, a bringer of truth. I call him Blue Messiah because his gaze invites us to look within ourselves. What are we avoiding? What truths are we ready to face?
