"Not everything beautiful asks to be touched."
Beautiful Poison represents the month of May in my ongoing Twelve Muses series, where each painting embodies the spirit, colors, flowers, and quiet symbolism of a single month.
Draped in emerald green and holding a bouquet of delicate Lily of the Valley, she stands at the edge of spring—young, self-assured, and entirely unbothered. Her sideways glance is one of quiet confidence. She doesn't seek approval. She simply exists in her own certainty.
The Lily of the Valley has long symbolized sweetness, renewal, and the return of happiness, yet beneath its graceful appearance lies a hidden truth: it is one of nature's most poisonous flowers. That contradiction inspired the title Beautiful Poison.
Like the flower she carries, beauty is not always synonymous with softness, and youth should never be mistaken for weakness. There is power in restraint, confidence in silence, and strength in knowing that not everything delicate is fragile.
The rich emerald palette celebrates May's birthstone while honoring the season of growth, possibility, and becoming. She is spring in human form.
This original painting invites the viewer to look beyond appearances and appreciate the complexity that often exists beneath beauty.
